db2unit (DB2 Unit Testing Framework)

Folks,

Just thought I'd drop a quick note to the newsgroup to let everyone know
that I've initiated a new project on Sourceforge called db2unit.

This is intended to provide a unit testing framework for IBM DB2, in the
style of application programming tools such as JUnit..

I'm looking at supporting User Defined Functions and Stored Procedures
initially.

I've put up a homepage -

http://db2unit.sourceforge.net

which describes some of the challenges that I think I'll face.

One of the characteristics of other application unit test frameworks is that
they often make the database (persistance) layer something that can be
"commented out", so that the application code can be tested without
actually having a database present. This is probably there are so many
"difficulties" in providing tests for the database components themselves.

Being a database person myself I want to participate fully in the XP
(eXtreme Programming) process, and being able to provide tests for my
database components is one way towards helping this.

Any comments / assistance etc. welcome.
