Most connections nowdays between either DB2 Connect client or iSeries
Access client and DB2 UDB for iSeries server are TCP/IP. You can use
APPC for DB2 Connect if you like. DB2 Connect flows DRDA datastream
while iSeries Access flows a protocol unique to iSeries.
I can't offer any comparative info about efficiency of one vs the other.
You might ask over on the comp.sys.ibm.as400.misc newsgroup, as a
number of iSeries customers follow that.
