version 7 backup close connections

P: n/a
I am trying to do an offline backup of a 7.2 db. The problem is that
the backup is failing due to connections still being open to the db. I
found this command 'quiesce database immediate' but its only a version
8 command ? Is there a version 7 equivalent ?

db2 list applications will show you open connections
db2 force application

can kill them all together or single
(see the options with
db2 ? force application)

only problem is that force application runs asynchronously so it
returns before all connects are have terminated. I forgot to mention
that this is in a backup script that runs at 3:00 am.

Normally most connections go away immediately, so sleeping for 10
seconds between the force and backup will usually solve things.

Otherwise, you can loop between 'list applications' and 'force
applications' until you're clear.
