Health Center Email Notifications Stopped

P: n/a
Hi,

Our Health Center ("DB2 v8.1.0.64", "s040812", "MI00086", and FixPak
"7") hasn't been sending out email notifications for a bit now, but we
aren't sure why, since no configurations have changed (except the
server has been restarted, so perhaps something is 'off'). We just have
one email alias setup in the Health Center for our single, small db.
I've tested the alias manually and it still works.

What mechanism does it use to send the emails anyhow? SMTP? Always?

I did a db2 get admin configuration command and it shows SMTP SERVER =
localhost -- seems like this should actually be set to our
organizations
smtp server name (mail.ournamehere.com)?

db2 get admin configuration

Admin Server Configuration

Authentication Type DAS (AUTHENTICATION) =
SERVER_ENCRYPT

DAS Administration Authority Group Name (DASADM_GROUP) = dasadm1

DAS Discovery Mode (DISCOVER) = SEARCH
Name of the DB2 Server System (DB2SYSTEM) = LINUX

Java Development Kit Installation Path DAS (JDK_PATH) =
/opt/IBMJava2-141
Java Development Kit Installation Path DAS (JDK_64_PATH) =
/opt/IBMJava2-141

DAS Code Page (DAS_CODEPAGE) = 0
DAS Territory (DAS_TERRITORY) = 0

Location of Contact List (CONTACT_HOST) =
Execute Expired Tasks (EXEC_EXP_TASK) = NO
Scheduler Mode (SCHED_ENABLE) = ON
SMTP Server (SMTP_SERVER) = localhost
Tools Catalog Database (TOOLSCAT_DB) = TOOLSDB
Tools Catalog Database Instance (TOOLSCAT_INST) = db2inst1
Tools Catalog Database Schema (TOOLSCAT_SCHEMA) = SYSTOOLS
Scheduler User ID =

Anyone know what steps to take to troubleshoot this?

Yes, SMTP. Your config (smtp_server = localhost) expects that you
should have an MTA (sendmail, postfix, etc) running on your linux
server. If mail was getting out before the reboot, I would check
to make sure that the MTA gets started when the box reboots.

Also you might check the mail queue on your server to see if the
messages are getting sent by DB2, but are getting deferred by your
MTA for some reason.
Good luck,
