DB2 Connect - PE v8.1 - problem

Tcs
I've been running DB2 Connect - PE (v8.x, FP7a) on my XP, sp1 machine. I've
been running the trial version (from ftp.software.ibm.com). It timed out last
Thursday, which I found out on Friday morning. So I tried to reinstall it.
While reinstalling it has worked in the past, it didn't work *this* time. I
thought perhaps it was the CD I was using. So I tried another. And had the
same result. Then I dug up the "original" IBM CD, instead of using my working
copy. *SAME* PROBLEM. Here is the error message (from Windows Installer):

Error opening installation log file. Verify that the specified log file
location exists and is writable.

I'm *hoping* that it's as simple as the log file location does *not* exist. But
I don't understand why I'm having a problem at all. I haven't had a problem
before. So why now? I've tried looking on the original CD to see if I couldn't
find some indication of what and where the log file is supposed to be. I can't.
There is *NO* mention of it, that *I* can find.

Bottom line? I'd *like* to get this resolved, so I can install DB2 Connect, and
"move on". And I'd *like* to install DB2 from the original CD, if possible.

Anyone know what this log file should be named, and where it should be located?
And how I might "fix" my problem?

Many thanks, in advance,

Tom

It sounds like you never got the license installed. You should be able
to use the db2licm command to view your current license then install the
permanent license file from the CD.

Explanations of how to use the command are in the Command Reference manual.
