how do you move very large amounts of data from db2 to oracle?
Is backup and restore possible? What are the other methods practiced?

Thanks!

Try some 3rd migration tools such as SwisSQL
(Site:http://www.swissql.com/products/db2-to-oracle/). I guess oracle
will have such tool for migration from other DB. Backup and restore is
not possible i guess, since both are from independent companies(I am
not 100%. So please check it up)

A question for you friend, You do you want to move to Oracle from DB2??

Cheers,
Thiru.

You can export the data in delimited format.

Export the DDL with db2look and then make any necessary changes for Oracle
syntax. Another possibility is to import the DDL into a design tool like
Erwin or PowerDesigner and then change the database to Oracle, and then
create the Oracle DDL.
