Latin -- English

You wrote the pleural of "schema" as "schemata."

My heart is warmed.

Americans write that as "schemas," since they have no concept of the
history of either their language nor their own culture.

Clearly you have escaped the American destruction of the English
language -- although there is now a dictionary of the "American
Language," as distinct from English.

Next time I'll be in Toronto I'll invite you to your favorite pub and
we'll discuss . . . whatever and everything. As happens in any
European pub.

*lol* I'm not a native speaker, that may explain it.
5 years of highschool English from an original Englishman also helped.

alway fun :-)

I agree with you. Just one point: "schema / schemata" is greek; may
have come to english thru latin, though.

Index on the other hand is Latin. Which makes the plural indices.
But seriously thsi is nothing compared data being "outputted" and
"inputted" (sp?) *shudder*

Mosquito ergo sum

There is clearly a difference between the generic terms index, schema, etc
and the specific objects that exist in DB2. That is why it acceptable (and
preferable) to say indexes and schemas when referring to DB2 objects. Makes
creating and using the indices in the DB2 manuals a lot easier that way (not
to mention using the search function in the electronic versions of the
manuals).

Also makes writing the SQL interpreter and Command Line processors a lot
easier.

RUNSTATS ON TABLE db2user.employee AND DETAILED INDICES ALL

I don't think so.

There is no added complexity in using INDICES vs INDEXES. Trust me I
know first hand :-)
Anyway... This is a tongue in cheek thread :-)

You obviously never met an 8th grade English teacher.

Not being American, and with tongue firmly in cheek, I find the phrase
"8th grade English teacher" a little bit of an oxymoron.

For the sake of whatever.. I just wonder how (modern) greeks refer to
"schemas". ¿Any greek out there..?
