Installing InfoCenter on local drive

I have a question or two about the Info Center. I'm running DB2 (LUW)
Personal (Developer's) Edition Version 8 (FP8) on Windows XP.

I just reinstalled DB2 V8 (FP7) and applied FP8 immediately afterwards.
During the install process, I said that I wanted to the InfoCenter to be
installed on my hard drive (standalone PC) rather than using the default
URL to access it via the Internet. However, when I launch the Info Center,
it is using the Internet URL to access it rather than getting it from my
hard drive.

Has anyone else had this same experience? I'm wondering if this is a known
misbehaviour of the installation process.

I looked in the Info Center for information on how to install the Info
Center on my hard drive and saw a recommendation that I not do this because
*some* (unspecified) versions of Windows could not run the Info Center.
Does anyone know if Windows XP supports the Info Center? It seems unlikely
to me that XP would not support the Info Center but it might explain why
the installation failed to follow my instructions.

I'd prefer to have the Info Center on my hard drive for two reasons:
- it should be faster
- I'll still be able to access the manuals if my Internet connection is not
working

The info center update can be downloaded seperately from the IBM
site, if you install it locally it will change your settings to point
to the local information center. On W2K This worked without a
problem.

Thanks Gert! If it worked on W2K it seems very unlikely it wouldn't work in
XP. I assume that the Info Center only fails in the oldest versions of
Windows, like Win 95 and Win 98. I guess I'll find out for sure when I try
it!
