Restoring a Tablespace level backup to another database

Dear all,

Is it possible to restore some (not all) tablespaces to a new database?

We have a full offline backup, and as the manual says, we can restore the
whole set of tablespaces to a new database.
But, is there any way to restore only some of the tablespaces?

thank you in advanced.

I believe thats not possible at the moment (I heard rumours abour
"transportable tablespaces"). What is your goal? Do you want to restore
some tables in certain tablespace to a earlier time ? If so just
restore the whole database and rollforward the tablespace you have in
mind to a specific point in time

we have some tables being replicated from DB2 to Oracle using DB2
Information Integrator (DB2II), and our client wants to compare the
content of data between the databases.
We just want to restore related tables to a new DB to create a static
image for the comparison purpose.
Surely restoring the whole database will do, but we just wanna try to
minimize the restore time and disk capacity.
Thanks for the reply. will try to find more about 'transportable
tablespaces' as you mentioned. other suggestions are highly welcome...

Sorry, missed to say that "transportable tablespaces" might (!) be an
option in a future release of DB2 . As I said "just a rumour" :-(

If you are replicating from DB2 UDB for LUW then IBM's DB2 Recovery
Expert for Multiplatform contains functionality that allows you to
restore specified table spaces, or tables, from a backup to a new
target DB.
