Client for DB2 UDB 07.02.0007 database

I'm needing to connect to this DB2 database from Oracle, and when I try to
connect, I get a message saying I'm using a UDB 8 client against a UDB
07.02.0007 database. I've searched IBM's website for a while looking for a
version 7 client, and haven't found one. I'm also confused by the term
"Fixpack" - these seem to be updates to the client, but I never find the
base install. Can somebody give me a link to the version 7 client?

Thanks,
Harry Boswell

You can download the version 7 client here. For Windows clients, you do not
need the base install, just install the fixpak level you want.
http://www-306.ibm.com/software/data...ownloadv7.html

There are 3 clients:

- Runtime
- Administrative
- Application Development

The last 2 have the GUI interfaces such as Control Center. The Runtime has
only the Client Configuration Assistant GUI, but is probably all you need if
using Oracle to access DB2.

I downloaded version 7 Fixpack 1, and when I run it it just says "Setup
cannot find any DB2 products to update" and closes. That's happened with
several version 7 Fixpacks I've tried. Very, very frustrating. It says the
prerequisite is "GA" - what is that and where do I find it?

Thanks,
Harry

Please specify the OS you are trying to install it on. Are you sure you
installed the client (not the server code)?

I'm really not sure of anything - the terminology is confusing. I'm
trying to install on WinXP.

Yes WinXP is the operating system that I asked for. For DB2 fixpaks, that
means you want "Windows 32-bit" versions of DB2. According to the DB2
download site, you need FP3 or later installed on your WinXP OS (that is
WinXP fixpak 3, not DB2 fixpak 3).

Go to this ftp site (you can use your browser):
ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/ps/produc...lient/runtime/

If you want the client with FP7 (to match your server fixpak level) download
and install FP7_WR21311_RTClient.zip.

If you want the latest fixpak FP13, download and install
FP13_WR21345_rtclnt.zip

Personally, I would update both your DB2 V7 server and clients to FP13.

If you need a version other than English (NLV), go here:
http://www-306.ibm.com/software/data...loadNLVv7.html

That was it - now why don't they have a pointer to that on their website?
Or if they do, why is it hidden so well?

Anyway, thanks for the help, I'm connecting and running my migration scripts
now.

Thanks,
Harry

I got that ftp site by clicking on the html link I originally gave you on
the IBM website. Are you sure you selected the client software (right hand
side of screen) for Windows 32-bit?
