DB2 Administrative Server and "discover=KNOWN" setting

Wondering if anyone has made use of this feature?

The manuals don't seem to be very clear on it but it appears that if
you have a connection already created to one instance on that
particular server, you can discover the remaining instances on that
server.

What is the impact for other tools such as AppDetective in detecting
instances on servers with such settings.?

Thanks in advance!

Have you read the manuals? See the:

DISCOVER admin server & database manager config parameters
DISCOVER_INST database manager config parameter
DISCOVER_DB database config parameter

I have no clue as to how AppDetective works:
As to DB2, if the DAS is set to Known, it means that if one knows the
dbw system name and supplies it, that sytem wil be discovered.
Your docs will also show that the the instance as well as the db have a
discover parm. that can be set to disable as enable is the default.
I don't know what AppDetective will do with those however.
HTH, Pierre.
