How to stop FMC?

When I stop all DB2 services on our Unix box - I still can see the following
two DB2 processes running:

root 20410 1 0 Oct 28 - 4:16
/usr/opt/db2_08_01/bin/db2fmcd
db2as 21780 1 0 Oct 28 - 0:11
/home/ovenbird02/app/db2/das/bin/db2fmd -i db2as -m
/home/ovenbird02/app/db2/das/lib/libdb2dasgcf.a

So I have entered DB2STOP and DB2ADMIN STOP - and still the above two
processes remain??

I suppose I could KILL them off - but what are they - and how would I
restart them - and do I need them? Thanks for your help.

This one is launched by init - check /etc/inittab. Probably not
something you should care to kill, even if applying a fixpak. The
fixpak will kill/restart this automatically. The init process will
restart this if you kill it.

This would be started by the das, but really doesn't matter if it's
still around or not. You can kill this one quite safely. This process
just monitors your das to ensure it doesn't crash - db2admin stop isn't
a crash, so this will just sit there watching. When you restart the
admin server, this will reattach and begin its watching for a crash all
over again.

If you kill it, it will automatically restart when you next restart the
das.
