DB2 DBA for UNIX and DB2 DBA for OS/390

Hi Gurus,

Questions for you.

1. Is it possible to assign a DB2 DBA for UNIX into a DB2 DBA for
Mainframe (OS390)?
2. Are the data administration commands the same for UNIX and
mainframe?
3. If not how many percent is the differecence?
Your inputs are greatly appreciated.

a lot..

The DB2 working way, the concepts and the theory are, more or less,
the same in Unix, Windows, mainframe.

BUT there are also a lot of difference, either in DB2 and operating
system. An Unix DBA works with interactive commands and script, whilst
a mainframe DBA works with JCL, controls panels and batch tools.

Two differents worlds....

1. They need to know OS/390 JCL, TSO, VSAM, etc.

2. The concepts are similar, but the admin commands are different (and
most are usually submitted via JCL on OS/390). The SQL (DDL, DML, and
DCL) is almost the same, but when you get to physical objects like
tablespaces, then there is a significant difference.

3. Administration commands are about 99% different.

From your inputs I see that the DBA for UNIX needs training for
OS/390. My next question is what trainings do you recommend so that
the DBA for UNIX perform being a DBA for Mainframe.

Thanks in advance!
