Is there a restriction for an index creation?

P: n/a
Anybody knows a restriction for an index creation on a text column?
How deep can an index for a text go?

Somebody told me that a MySQL-Index has a restriction on 255 strings!
And DB2? Is there ever a restriction?

Thanks
Markus

The SQL Limits manual says 1024 bytes. It's probably not a good idea to
create an index on such a large, unique field, though. You'll probably have
more luck with the DB2 Text Extender. It's similar to Microsoft SQL's
Full-text search.
