SQLJ stored procedure ....

According to the manual, I am required to execute the following in a
SQLj stored procedure to 'get' the resultset (after the SQL statement
that generates the result set is assigned to an iterator):

rs[0] = c1.getResultSet();

But I found that this statement seems redundant; in other words, even
in absence of this statement, the client application successfully
retrieves the result-set.

Does anyone have any experiences to share? What does the above
statement do?

TIA
Raquel.
