<laughing>
I was asked w/ both Informix & DB2 to play some scenarios out
as far as data corruption just to see what the database would do
and to make sure we could handle it. (ie destroy the database on
purpose and make sure you can rebuild it w/ no problems).
Anyways, one of the things I did was to use the unix dd command to
push many megs of random bytes into a database container file
while the database was online. This was done to both user data
and system catalogs...
It was kind of interesting to watch a database have a slow nervous
breakdown.....

Hi,
I can't think of how data can be lost other than losing active logs
and some of the archive logs
Does anyone has a list of mishaps that can cause data in DB2 world go
missing?
I am using archive logging and online backup
Thanks
