Dear ALL,
I met a situation which I could not figure out these days (db2 V7.2 EE
on AIX 4.3.3 ML 09, Fixpack 5).
When I tried to connect to my database, it hang there. I checked
db2diag.log that means I reached maxmium agents which I setup as 240.
So I checked from "ps -ef |grep db2agent |wc -l", only 235. Almost 20
minutes later, it arrived 250. My question is:
1. How come it broke through the 240 maxmium?
2. I found some processes there
# ps -ef |grep db2agent |grep instance
db2ccc prdadm .................. db2agent (instance)
db2ccc prdadm .................. db2agent (instance)
db2ccc prdadm .................. db2agent (instance)
totally 24 db2agent (instance)
In my memory, it supposes to be "db2agent (CCC)" or "db2agent (idle)",
how come it became "db2agent (instance)"? On the other hand, what's
the "db2agent (instance)" for? How does it affect DB2 system? Because
I also found the following senario:
I stoped db2, changed dbm (maximum agents to 280) and db (maximum
applicaions to 280), then restart db2. Everything was fine. No
db2agent(instance) at all, only 220 db2agent (CCC) there. Almost half
a day, I found 7 db2agent (instance ) there again,the total db2agent
reached 236. At the same time, I tried to use the command "db2 list
applications", "db2 get snapshot for applications", both of them told
me "No switches monitor returned" after hang a while. It was far below
280 maximum agents but I could not connect to my database at that
moment. After 1 hour, db2agent (instance) dropped to 2, then I got
everything I wanted to get using "db2 list applications", "db2 get
snapshot for applications".
I thought the db2agent (instance) had some problem, and wanted to
force them. But I could not get the applications associated with them
through "db2 get snapshot for applications".
I really need support from this forum to help out.
TIA
