backup: database configuration parameters

GB
Are all database configuration parameters included in the database
backup or not ? If I restore the database from the backup are these
restored also ?

What is the best way to backup and restore these parameters ?

Thanks for your help, Greg

Database configuration parameters are stored in a database backup image.

Settings for the instance (registry varialbles and database manager
configuration parameters) are not. They can be captured as follows:

db2 get dbm cfg>dbmcfg.out

db2set>db2set.out

From my knowledge if u restore a copy of the previous logs along with
the database , the parameters wouldn't be a problem. so at the time of
backup make a copy of ur logs from sqllib directory and save them in a
different path and then move them to the database directory during the
restore process.

The backup image has a copy of SQLDBCON which is your db cfg with all
its parms. It cannot be restored selectively, you'll need to do a full
db restore if you have damaged or lost it.

There's a command: db2expcfg
F:\SQLLIB\BIN>db2cfexp -h

F:\SQLLIB\BIN>db2cfexp
db2cfexp exports configuration information.

db2cfexp fname [ template | backup | maintain ]
- - -

fname - path/filename of the export profile.

Options:
template - create a generic export profile to
transfer this configuration to another
workstation. (incl. configuration info,
catalog info, ODBC info ).

maintain - create a Database export profile to
transfer the Database catalog information
to another workstation.

backup - create a backup configuration profile for
backup purposes at this workstation only.
