db2cli.ini file for JDBC ....

db2cli.ini File is the place where various options regarding database
connection and application characteristics are given for applications
using DB2 CLI driver.

Why is the very same file (db2cli.ini) also used for specifying
options for applications using DB2 JDBC driver too? Is it because
'some' (which ones??) versions of JDBC drivers make use of CLI dirvers
for database access?

TIA
Raquel.
