Great Company on the Maryland Eastern Shore needs a DB2 Systems
Programmer and DBA (DB2)
to join their IT team.
The selected candidate MUST have a BS degree and both DB2 DBA And DB2
Systems
Programming experience.
The salary range for this position is 80-85K range..tops.

Responsibilities:
-Install, maintain and support DB2 and supporting systems that provide
an environment
conducive to customer productivity.
-Plan how and when to install new products or upgrade existing
hardware/software
considering impact on end-users.
-Monitor use of the DB2 systems in order to forecast need for
additional resources.
-Identify and utilize the best methods for adjusting and tuning the
system to maximize
system performance.
-Ensure backup and disaster recovery plans are implemented, tested and
used.
-Ensure that the objectives of customer/supplier relationships are met
or exceeded for DB2.
-Identify the products will best serve end-user needs and how to
implement and train users.
-Report all events and requirements through established reporting
mechanisms.
-Function as part of a team consisting of IT personnel, User
department personnel,
selected outside vendors and customers.
-Project Management as required.
*Requirements:
-MUST have BS a degree in CS or related field.
-8 years experience working as mainframe Systems Programmer in an
OS/390
information technology department.
-4 years focused experience as DB2 Systems Programmer and DBA in a
mainframe environment,
supporting all areas of DB2, AND having participated in at least 1
DB2 upgrade.
Installs, tuning, maintenance, support.
-2 years experience working as an MVS System Programmer including
shared on call.
SMPE, CICS, VTAM/NCP, Third Party Products.
-2 years experience working with database related projects. EXAMPLE:
Implementation of
major packages that use DB2, like PeopleSoft.
-2 years DB2 Database Administration.
-Knowledge of Quality Improvement Techniques
-Experience using MS Word and Excel
-Experience using project management tools such as Microsoft
Project/Niku
-Experience at performing multiple tasks and projects
-The person must possess strong oral and verbal communications
skills... They will be required
to interact with a wide variety of people at different levels within
the company and must
be able to effectively interact with them.
-Must be a U.S. citizenship or permanent resident.
