UDF Performance

We have a client server application in development that is being
developed using WEBSPHERE on Zos. We are using a UDF (COBOL Zos) that
is called multiple times in the same SQL statement. We would like to
know to what level the UDF can impact performance. The UDF is a COBOL
program that does a logical AND or a logical OR on two pieces of data.
Any insight is appreciated.
