I have an IBM UniVerse database running on Windows 2003 SBS. Every night the
UniVerse services appear to hang, and users cannot connect to the database
in the morning.
If I try and stop and restart the services manually, all four services stop
without a problem, but the UniVerse Resource Service fails to start (the
server did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion).
This only happens first thing in the morning. At any other time in the day I
can restart the services without a problem.
We have tried to isolate what may be causing the problem. We have removed
SQL and all related components from the server. We have removed Veritas
Backup Exec. The only other software running is virus software (Trend
Neatsuite), which I am reluctant to remove until I can remove the server
from the network.
The only work around seems to be a reboot of the server every morning.
This problem seems to be unique to Windows 2003. The application vendor
supplying the UniVerse database have made no effort to resolve the problem.
Can anybody please suggest a solution? 6 5404
