How DB2 UDB v7.2 & v81. talk?

If you have both DB2 UDB v7.2 fixpack 11 & v8.1 (latest fixpack) servers
installed on different W2K machines. How these two databases talk? Would you
be able to catalog from V7.2 to v.8 & vice versa?

I heard about DRDA, is this a requirement for the two database servers to
coexist?

If it is needed, is the DRDA is this actually the DB2 Connect product?
I appreciate any help on this.

Yes and yes

Yes, DRDA is the standard protocol for v8.

No - DB2 Connect is needed only if the DB2 server is on AS/400, VM/VSE
or zOS (MVS).

I appreciate any help on this.
