Upgrade and License questions

I can not seem to get a good answer to these questions:

I have a DB2 database that we run DB2 6.1 workgroup Edition. We had
purchased upgrade protection up until 2002. So I have my cd's for
Workgroup Edition 7.1. Really what I would like to do is upgrade to
8.1 or 8.2 What is it going to take for me to get to that level? I
have tried calling IBM but I can not seem to get a good answer from
them.

How long will 7.1 be supported?
Additonally we purchased 8.2 Enterprise Server for another system we
use. Does that include multiple installations usually?

As yall know 6.1 is no longer supported so I need to get this DB
ugraded quickily.
Any advice?

v7.2 (7.1+fixpak 3 or later) will be supported until at least September,
2004.

Your v7 needs "subscription support" (through an IBM program called
Passport Advantage) to get the v7 CD's officially upgraded to v8.

The v8.2 system exists only as beta software. If it's really 8.1, it's
only licensed for as many processors as you paid for.

Do you have a local IBM sales rep? They should be helping you with these
questions. If not, try IBM Direct at 1-888-746-7426 in US.

Thanks to all,
This number got me to the right people to talk to. I have one more
question though. I see there is a version 7.2 OS/2 client. Is there a
version 8.x os/2 client. If not what are the risks associated with
running a 7.2 client against a 8.x database. Clients are OS/2 Warp
Server for Ebusiness. DB will be version 8.x for Windows 2000.

Thanks,
Mike

DB2 UDB V8 is not supported on OS/2. You can use a 7.2 client against
a V8 server, but there are a number of restrictions. Check out the DB2
Information Center:

http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infoce...help/index.jsp

And look in the Release Information, under "Incompatibilities between
releases" for more info.
