Cannot install Windows Application Development Client Fixpack 5 onWindows XP Professional

Hi,

I wanted to upgrade my adc to fixpack 5 on Windows XP Professional
(Dutch edition). However after unzipping the cab files the Windows
installer quits with a dialog saying (translated from Dutch):

Incorrect command line parameters.

The only thing I can do is to click OK and the installation quits.
The installation file installed correctly on some Windows 2000 machines
we have here. So it seems Windows XP related...

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

John Wheeler

Try unzipping the files yourself before you start the install. Then run
setup.exe.

Thanks Mark for the suggestion. I get the files unzipped both using
Winzip or by starting the installation with:

FP5_WR21334_ADCL.exe -f c:\temp
I still get the error message: Incorrect command line parameters. from
the Windows Installer.

When I look at the unzipped cabinet files there seems to be a problem
with long file names. All cabinet files look like this:

ADCLCF~1.cab

As I said the windows 2000 installations here do not have a problem with
this installation.

John Wheeler

Some additional info. I unzipped the file: FP5_WR21334_ADCL.exe to my
local hard disk and noticed that the filenames are all cut with ~1 and
~2 etc.

Example:

ACTIVI~1.cab
ACTIVI~2.cab
ACTIVI~3.cab

The files are stored like this in FP5_WR21334_ADCL.exe

Can it be that the Windows Installer on Windows XP cannot handle
installations with these kind of file names?

Maybe the ibm guys can shine a light?
