I have found that buried in the IBM web site there is, quite often,
excellent information. However, I am not able to find anything that
explains what the difference is between 8.1 and 8.1.2, and whether SBCS
is what I am supposed to use or not.
Does anyone know of a web site where I can find this?
Also, Is 8.1.2 the same as DB2/UDB 8.1 fixpak 4a?.

8.1.2 if Version 8 fixpak 2
8.1.4 is fixpak 4a
8.1 is the original Version 8, with no fixpaks.
SBCS = single byte character set (English, and all other non-Asian
languages)
DBCS = double byte (Japan, Korea, China)
