http://www-306.ibm.com/software/data.../db2zosv8.html

Key prerequisites for DB2 UDB for z/OS Version 8:
a.. Any processor that supports z/Architecture
b.. z/OS V1R3 Base Services (5694-A01), or later, executing in 64-bit
addressing mode.
c.. DB2 UDB for z/OS and OS/390 Version 7 (for Migration)
In order to migrate to Version 8, you must be running DB2 for z/OS and
OS/390 Version 7.
A good place to ask about those questions is also the DB2-L list.

bit.listserv.ibm-main is also a good newsgroup/mainframe oriented.
