CPU usage of DB2_USE_ALTERNATE_PAGE_CLEANING setting in V8.1.4

Hello,

I notice that the DB2_USE_ALTERNATE_PAGE_CLEANING registry setting in
FixPak 4 has the page cleaners on CPU a lot more than they were with
my previous settings. I am willing to accept the fact that the older
page cleaner settings may have been inadequate, resulting in the page
cleaners not running as often as they should. However, it would seem
that db2pclnr shouldn't need to run so much when DML activity drops
considerably during certain parts of the day.

From the the blurb about the setting in the release notes, it isn't
clear what other settings can be adjusted to reduce the cleaners' CPU
usage. I have four CPUs and two async page cleaners, and it seems like
adding two more would chew through even more CPU while this registry
variable is enabled.

Has anyone else tried this new setting and found its CPU usage
excessive?

Thanks,

Fred
