DB2 8.3.1 on RedHatLinux AS2.1 problems

I am having a lot of problems with DB2 8.3.1 on RH Linux AS2.1.
Installing and running stored procedures is problematic. Stored
procedures I have used for years on V7 on WinNT are now failing
multiple times/day.

Data that exists in the db is not returned with a select *, but is
returned when a where clause with a primary key value is specified.

There are other problems, including the db crashing in the middle of a
simple query.

Has anyone else had similar experiences or dissimilar experiences?

Thanks,
Ellen Graves

Ellen,

I assume you mean 8.1.3 (since 8.1.4 is the latest).

Do you have anything in the db2diag.log ?

We've been running DB2 on Red Hat for about 3 years without problems
(albeit v7.2). I've also been running DB2 V8 on Linux since the day it
was released without problems.

Sounds like you have serious problems with your installation.

More information would be needed to get to the root of the problem.

If you have an IBM support contract then I'd start there.

You can contact me at te*****@scotdb.com if you think I can help. The
output from the db2support command would be a useful starting point.

Db2 V8 is very stable on RHAs2.1. But make sure you have updated the kernel
to an actual level as well as all other components. The default - unupdated
RH CD versions - are nto validated with DB2 for a good reason... Minimum
level we support is 2.4.9-e16. Actual one is 2.4.9-e29 (or 30soemthing by
now). These updates come automatic with RHAS is you are licensed by them and
register on the internet with RH. Without these patches the OS is not
validated and stable.
