What to do when you see error DES0333N with DB2 Text Extender

Just wanted to post this solution because I could not find it anywhere
on Google Groups. This solution applies to Windows only. Here's the
scenario - you have done the following:

- installed DB2 Text Extender
- created the instance (txicrt)
- started the TE server (txstart)
- started the TE client (db2tx)
- connected to your database and enabled it for TE

Now you are trying to enable text columns for the DB2 Text Extender,
and you are getting the error message:

DES0333N The DB2 Text Extender client cannot currently establish a
session with the requested server.

If this sounds familiar and you are using Terminal Services to access
the machine, that is the problem. You must run the command to enable
the text columns on the physical machine, NOT using Terminal Services.
I have also heard that you can use the Windows service to do this, but
I haven't confirmed that yet.

I can confirm that you can use the Resource Kit SRVANY tool to automate
starting the Text Extender as a service (that's how we do it). (And yes, we
also discovered you cannot use a TS session).

You will see the following error if the text extender service is not
started. Execute txstart.exe should start the service.

DES0333N The DB2 Text Extender client cannot currently establish a
session with the requested server.
