How to change interface language?

P: n/a
Hi,

I installed DB2 8.1 Express with multiple language: English and Chinese, but
the interface like: Control Center, CLP, etc alway display Chinese, is there
a way to change the display language to English? Thanks!

Only by converting the whole system configuration to English. Even worse is
that if you only install the English documentation, you won't get any help
at all if your system is set for Chinese.

You can try opening a PMR; perhaps if enough people do this IBM will
actually fix the problem (rather than telling you "works as designed").

"Changing the DB2 interface language" in the DB2 Information Center at
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/db2help/
tells you how to do this. On UNIX you should be able to change the
language for a particular session; on Windows it appears to be a global
setting for your operating system. Specifically:

UNIX:
To change the DB2 interface language on UNIX systems, set the LANG
environment variable to the desired locale.

For example, to interface with DB2 in French using DB2 for AIX, you must
have French language support installed and you must set the LANG
environment variable to a French locale, for example, fr_FR.

Windows:
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infoce...t/t0007278.htm
Procedure

Changing the interface language for DB2 on Windows requires that you
change the default language setting for your Windows operating system.

To change the DB2 interface language on Windows:

1. Through the Control Panel on your Windows operating system,
select Regional Options.
2. In the Regional Options dialog window, change the default
language setting for the system to the language in which you want to
interface with DB2.

Refer to your operating system help for additional information about
changing the default system language.
