I would rather use:

find /-name db2ilist

but that is my personal preference. db2list most likely won't be found :-)

I have a Java desktop GUI application that the user can run multiple times. In order to keep one instance of the application distinct from another, I'd like to put the instance number of the application in the title bar. For example, the user starts the application, and the title bar says "Control Panel". The user starts another instance of the application, and it knows that one instance is already running, so the title bar of the...

I was wondering if anyone has suggested having Python determine a method's kind from its first parameter. 'self' is a de facto reserved word; 'cls' is a good indicator of a class method ( __new__ is a special case ). The closest to this I could find was the 2002-12-04 posting 'metaclasses and static methods' by Michele Simionato. The posting's example metaclass uses the method's name. I present my own example of automatic method kind...

I am writing a VB.NET application in Visual Studio 2003. I have written a method that handles several events, such as closing a form and changing the visible status of a form. I have some code that applies to all these events, but I need to have specific code execute when the form closes. The properties for this method are sender (the originator) and e (event arguments). I know how to get typeof (sender) to determine what form or...

I am currently running a c# service that dynamically loads assemblies using System.Reflection.Assembly.LoadFrom("aDll.dll"). These assemblies are stored in an arraylist after they are loaded. I would like to periodically report the memory usage of each assembly within the arraylist. I tried System.Diagnostics.ProcessModule.ModuleMemorySize, but this only shows the size of the structures within the .dll, not the current memory usage. ...

I'm using DSOFramer to host instances of word template documents. One of the requirements states that users are not allowed to paste images into these documents. Therefore, is there a way to determine what type of an object is about to be pasted into a document and if not then (after it's been pasted) how to delte it? TIA, Art

I need to be able to determine if the user is a member of a given AD group. I have a method of doing this, but it is not suitable for 64bit OS's, so I need to find an alternative route. I actually think an alternative route might actually be a better route. I'm not an ADSI expert (frankly, I find it confusing) and I don't want to learn any more - I just want to be able to do this one thing. How do you guys go about achieving this?

Hi All, Whether in a Winform application (.exe) or a .Net assembly (.dll), is there a way to determine what version of the .net baseframework the run-time module (i.e. exe or dll) was loaded with (is using)? Seems that using reflection this is possible...just can't seem to figure out what classes/instances will get me there. Thanks in advance! Tony

I am interested in scanning web pages for content of interest, and then auto-classifying that content. I have tables of metadata that I can use for the classification, e.g. : "John P. Jones" "Jane T. Smith" "Fred Barzowsky" "Department of Oncology" "Office of Student Affairs" "Lewis Hall" etc. etc. etc. I am wondering what the efficient way to do this in code might be. The dumb and brute-force way would be to loop through the content...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
