Multiple Temp Tablespaces

Hi,

A friend of mine inheritted a system that had 2 4k temp tablespaces
each assigned to a different bufferpool. This brought up a number of
questions for me.

1) Does anyone know in general how db2 handles multiple temp
tablespaces of the same page size?

2) I had read somewhere that with multiple temp tablespaces of the
same size db2 will basically use them both in a round robin fashion and
that this is not efficient. First is this true and second why is this
not efficient?

3) Since in my friend's case each temp tablespace is assigned to a
different bufferpool how does db2 manage the movement of data between
the temp tablespaces and the bufferpools if it operates as I stated in
question 2?

4) How does the tablespace assigment of the core tables play into
this? For example, if I do a simple select from a table that is
assigned to a 4k bufferpool, say buf1, will it try to use the temp
tablespace also assigned to buf1?
Thanks in advance for any clarifications provided.

Lew

Need a piece of advice on allocation of tablespaces for partitioning We are using a day level range-based approach as our parititiong scheme given that we have data inflows running into 15 million rows each day averaging around 2GB. The table has 31 partitions (one for each day) as we do not plan on retaining the data beyond 2/3 weeks. The partitions are purged at the end of 2/3rd week depending upon the when it is scheduled to run and...

Is it possible to overload multiple times operator() ? For example for using one or two arguments ? My visual c++ does not seem to like it : I was trying to implement an arbitrary integer precision class (I know such libraries already exist) and I wrote the following piece of code : template <typename T> class plus_with_carry { public: plus_with_carry(void) : carry(false) {};

Hi Everyone, I have a question about tablespaces.... Does having Multiple tablespaces (ie..one for indexes, one for large tables and one for smaller tables) realy help out performance considering my containers are all on the same disks? Does the performance out-weigh the complexity of the design/maintenace of the database?

I can't seem to get the logic for printing multiple pages. I know I have to do a comparison between the bottom margin and the position of the next line to be printed and initiate a has more pages condition when they are equal. I have included my code for the printpage handler below. When I run it for an array that takes up less than a page its OK. When I run it on a larger array it goes into an infinite loop creating identical pages of the...

Can anyone tell me why a EEE system might be created to have two separate tablespaces with the same 4k pagesize ? They both appear to be in use as I can see the underlying files being modified. These were created with SMS and reside on the same disk and filesystem (separate directory on filesystem). One is called temp_4k and the other temp_sys. I would assume that the temp_sys was intended for use by the db2 catalog. I know of no way...

DB2 8.2.3 the task I have is to write a script to restore a database from a backup on to another machine. the backup can be as old as seven years. The container layout on the machine to be restored can be totally different from the machine which was backedup. So we are going with redirect restore.

Hi All :) I'm converting VB6 using True DBGrid Pro 8.0 to VB2005 using DataGridView. True DBGrid has a MultipleLines property that controls whether individual records span multiple lines. Is there an equivalent property for the DataGridView? I have searched, but have not found one. I would like the user to be able to see all the columns of the table on one screen - thus eliminating the need to use the horizontal scroll bar to view...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
