SYSADM privileges? How to assign?

I want to assign SYSADM privileges to user say XYZ. I know that this
privileges can't be assigned directly using grant command. But can be
acheived by assigning the privileges to group and then inturn assign
the user to the group? Does this group mean OS level group or something
else? plz tell me how to do that?

For Your Information
DB21085I Instance "DB2" uses "32" bits and DB2 code release "SQL08010"
level identifier "01010106".
Informational tokens are "DB2 v8.1.0.36", "s021023", "", and FixPak
Product is installed at "C:\PROGRA~1\IB M\SQLLIB".

OS: Win 2k Professional

I come across this question while preparing for DB2 701 exam.

1. SYSADM is *NOT* a priviledge - it is an authority level.

2. DB2 online documentation available at
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infoce...help/index.jsp is an excelent and
searchable source of information - try it.

Hi all, i'm currently investigating DB2's security and found the following: Env. DB2 ESE 8.1.6 on AIX If you remove the instance owners userid from the AIX group which is the current SYSADM_GROUP he loses his SYSADM authority - as expected. But he still can use UPDATE DBM CFG eg. to assign a new SYSADM_GROUP. I haven't found anything about this in the docs so : is this "works as designed" or a flaw ?

I have create a usergroup UG41 in my database, with privileges connect with database and select for one table.

Hi, I've a component (DLL COM) that retrieves Fonts system's folder by calling SHGetSpecialFolderLocation / SHGetPathFromIDList windows API. Using this component from VB 6.0 it's all OK. Using this component from ASP, it is not able to retrieve Fonts system's folder (returns an empty string). If I assign to the ASP application "administrator" rights (in IIS), the component returns the Fonts system's folder OK (c:\windows\fonts).

Hello, I wrote a windows service that is supposed to start an interactive GUI app. I realize a service will not readily do this so I've pieced together the code below to bypass that. However, the call to CreateProcessAsUser always returns a 1314 error: 'A required privilege is not held by the client.' I realize from the doc's that the calling process must have SE_TCB_NAME privilaege to assign new privileges to the new process and I have done...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development projectplanning, coding, testing, and deploymentwithout human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
