Does the utility db2set permanently sent variables in the Registry or
will it set values only for current session.

db2set results in a permanent change/set or any variable.
It updates the actual register and for some variable you may be required
to stop/start the instance.

The db2 registry setting is permanent. The vast majority of its values
requires db2stop/db2start for DB2 to pick up the changes.

Bear with me. I am being very calm; took a Valium. I have waited two weeks to write this, because every time I wrote it before the message was, at best, nasty. I need to use the services of NET SEARCH EXTENDER. This is the first time in over five years of IBM (DB2) developing that I need this. I don't know how to do it. (Db2 v8.1.2, Windows) I see that I must deal with indexes, with cache, with other stuff.

Hi, I'm trying to setup the DB2 client to work with LDAP but as soon as I type the 'db2set' command with no parameters I get this error msg: -sh-2.05b$ db2set DBI1306N The instance profile is not defined. Explanation: The instance is not defined in the target machine registry.

DB2 500G database, Wintel, heavily loaded OLTP (5M+ transactions a day; all transactions are extremely small, all selects are controlled (no ad-hoc), 99% of all selects are very small (no table scans, index scans are very limited in size) ). Write performance is generally more important than read performance, read performance of heavy queries (the ones with table scans) is not important at all. Question: how to spread data across...

Has anyone run into issues of having db2set run by an instance owner process every 10 seconds. We are performing auditing and it is showing up literally every 10 seconds. I have shut down the governor and all event monitors except for DB2DETAILDEADLOCK and still it persists. In addition, I have verified that there are no connection via the instance owner which are persistent.

Dear all, On W2K DB2 V8.2.2, is it possible to execute DB2SET command using an account that is neither a member of LOCAL nor DOMAIN Admin group? I have created a non-admin domain account to log in the machine and include it to a group that is assigned to SYSADM_GROUP. It can do all sort of things except that it returns SQL1092N when executing DB2SET command.

I'm on the west coast of Florida south of Tampa, and as I wait for my house to look like something from the Flinstones, and am making sure that all of my disaster recovery ducks are in a row, I though maybe someone could use my linux-based script that backs up DB2 configuration data, which I call "lifeboat". Just put your own info anywhere you see UPPERCASE text in <> brackets. I store everything in /db2/lifeboat/...

On Linux and other UNIX like systems, you can configure a db2 instance to start automatically at system start with the command db2iauto -on <instance name>. But how does it work? On Linux (SuSE 9.3) I see no entry in /etc/inittab and no entry within /etc/init.d. All I see is this: There is an undocumented DB2 variable (db2set -lr doesn't know it) DB2AUTOSTART, which will be set to YES or unset via the db2iauto command. Which mechanism...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
