hacmp

On two Aix 5.2 servers I want to implement HACMP. In the IBM's
"Advanced DBA Certification Guide and Reference Book", in page 248,
there are 8 steps to implement HACMP. The 8th step says,
"Failover $HOME to the dbserv2". What does this mean? Does it mean
running the HACMP scripts in the /usr/bin directory? Assuming I run
the db2_inst_ha.loc al script in /usr/opt/db2_08_01/samples/hacmp/es.
If I do need to run the scripts is there a particular order? Please
help.
Thanks,
Yasaswi

I guess I was too specific, but is there any resource about HACMP for
Aix 5.2 environment. I know there is a the HACMP DB2 guide but did
somebody do it and have a step by step process?
Thanks,
Yasaswi

You might want to purchase "High Availability Guide for DB2" by Eaton
and Cialini at https://ites.krcinfo.com/ .

Does DB2 UDB support parallel database i.e processing is taking place on multiple nodes at the same time allowing users to be active on more than one node simultaneously. This is to allow for failover as well as load balancing? Is there an equivalent of Real Application Cluster (RAC) in Oracle. Where we can cluster at application level...

Hi, I want to test HADR in a windows environment. As default in DB2 there's only a manual takover possible. Are there some scripts available how I can automate this? I've found only some whitepapers with an automatic takover with HACMP and TSA. Regards Hobbit

We have oracle 9.2.0.7 database on AIX 5.2 with HACMP for fail over. We are regular database not 9i RAC. The Oracle inventory was corrupted so I had to re-install 9i and apply 9.2.0.7 patchset. When I was installing the OUI asked for primary node and now it seems that OUI installed 9i RAC instead of Non-RAC. I am not familair with RAC databases....

Hi folks, The sentence "If you are an HACMPâ„¢ user, you must use the ha_db2stop command to stop DB2 instead of the db2stop command. If you use the db2stop command instead of the ha_db2stop command, you will trigger a failure event.". If I also do HADR with HACMP, should I also use the ha_db2stop command, or just db2stop command? ...
