run a 2nd computer as an extra processor

I have a laptop with a busted lcd, but otherwise works fine with an external monitor. I was wondering if it is possible to connect it to my main pc as an extra processor(main pc is getting old, it's only single core processor) and if so how? I currently have them connected with a network cable so that I can access the laptop's harddrive but would like to use it to give my pc a bit more power. Both my pc and my laptop have 2gig ram and are running windows xp sp3.

Windows is a desktop OS. It is not built to work in parallel with another, separate, PC to share processes. Even if it did I doubt if it would lead to the kind of performance improvements you are seeking.

You are already using the laptop as a filestore on peer-to-peer basis - this is really as much as you can do with it at present.

Pity, it would have been nice to get a bit more functinality out of the laptop other than the relatively puny 60gig hdd. I have been doing a bit more research on the subject and found it is possible for pure number crunching eg. rendering farms that do not worry about latency or with linux etc. in a beowulf cluster but these options will not help with gaming in which latency is a big issue. It would be nice if someone (company?) would do some additionaj research into this as it would give some purpose to and reduce overall waste of the millions of computers that get thrown away annually(especially with modern "green thinking"), possibly with a specialised PCI card and appropriate software.
Anyway thanks for the rapid answer.
