Computer reboots during gaming after GTX 460 1GB upgrade

6
I just upgraded my GTX 250 512mb video card to a GTX 460 1GB

This GPU now has a voltage control which the user can adjust the GPU voltage manually for further overclocking gains.

But even a small increase in GPU voltage, as soon as i start any game, my pc restarts instantly.

i dont think its due to the weak PSU, because my PSU is Silverstone Strider 560w and it should be enough for my system.

my CPU is Q8400 at 3.28ghz, 4GB DDR2 RAM, 3 hard drives, a gtx 460 1gb, LG LCD 24inch monitor.

I highly suspect the motherboard being old now and it doesnt distribute power under heavy load so this leads to computer reboots.

my motherboard is Asus P5KR LGA775.

so what do you suspect in this case?

what is your projection based on my specs?

my specs arent that demanding for the PSU and my PSU is Silverstone 560w which should be a good brand and enough for my system.

isnt it strange???

In my case the pc window would just lock up and pc would not respond to ctrl alt delete.

It was my video card. I doubled the size of the card from 512 to 1 gig and have had no more trouble.

Hope this helps.

my card already has 1gb of video ram. the issue isnt related to the card.

If your old card works, and new one doesn't it's probably an issue with either the motherboard not being compatible with the card or the lack of power when you go peak during a game.

It's hard to answer the question any more specifically without details like error codes and logs.

ok. i will try to provide detailed log report.

in windows 7, i can go to Performance Monitor program, create a custom Data Collector Sets from a template and choose either System Diagnostics or System Performance or both and then let it run in the background while i game.

i think this way it does monitor the system performance and errors and when i quit the game, i can stop it and see the report's result.

how is that? would it help???
