my new HD makes sound when access !!

hiz,
i have 1 Hd of capacity 240 Giga.

i've bought new HD with capacity 500 and connected them together in my PC..

then i made the new HD as a single partition with 500 capacity..

both HD are Sata..

when i access the new HD partition the HD makes sound for around 2 secs. before i can access it normally..


plz help, n' thx in advance.

It would help to know the model. It may be possible to turn it off, have you looked at the documentation? It could also be controlled from the OS, you should check your power saving settings on there as well.

It would help to know the make and model. But it sounds like your HDD has an energy saving feature where it stops spinning if there's no activity.

both HDDs is WD, is there a way to disable this feature ?

my issue solved, it was an option in windows 7 power management setting, it was set to sleep my HDD after 20 mins of inactivity..
