Why won't my USB memory stick open?

I have had this Legend USB Memory stick for a while, and my mate was fiddling round with it the other day, and said he opened something called 'flashkey'. Now, even when it's in the USB port, the computer registers a Removeable Disk, but says there is no disc in the drive. Hence I cannot format it or anything. I am running Windows XP.
Thanks in advance!!!

That seems to be something you might want to try recovert tools in hirens boot cd.
