need easy way to print a report using C++ printing API for ubuntu or any Linux platfo

I am writing a C++ program. So far in my Google research I can't find a way to send a report to a printer. The best I've been able to piece together is to write the output to a text file and use the Linux commands to send the report to a print device. This is very plain text output. I'd like to be able to print bold. Underline etc. Do I have to learn PSL? Or is there an API that will make this easier?

Hopefully, your OS will interface the printer driver. If not, you will need to write your own driver.

One time I had to learn Postscript to get a report from my C code onto paper from our Postscript printer. Not fun.
