Where to apply C/C++?

alright? I am currently learning C....and was thinking where would i apply this?how software applications use C?how C is used in operating systems
and another big question ..
how to use c in robotics?(without robotc as one need to buy a kit like nxt..which is quite expensive). etc..
please help me clearing my doubts..

Please answer any part u know..
