What's the use of the $ symbol in C?

where and how $ symbol is useful in c programming...?

The $ symbol is not part of C or C++ syntax.

From Harbison & Steele, C Reference Manual:
Some compilers permit characters other than those specified earlier [A-Z,a-z,0-9,_] to be used in identifiers. The dollar sign ($) is often allowed in identifiers so that programs can access special non-C library functions provided by some computing systems.

Personally, I don't recall ever working with a compiler that had this nonstandard extension.

Microsoft had one before Visual C++. The $ was part of a Microsoft naming convention so they built it into their compiler at the time.
