How to get active application's title through API.

Actually i am using one timer, in that timer i am trying to displaying one dialog box nane as ABC, for if condition is success, there in the same condition i need to put one more query like for the perticular application is active then only display this dialog box ABC, i need which API is using for getting active application in c++. can any body help.

I dont know if this helps as I dont code C++, but I fell over this thread while looking for another answer, and since noone else has ventured an answer, thought I would give it a go:

It is suppose to be simple:

Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. GetWindowText(GetActiveWindow(), lpString, sizeof lpString)
  2.  
if you try to get it from another window it would only give your window handle and text so, figure your way out
