accelerated c++ 9.5

9.5 Write a class and associated functions to generate grades for students who take the course for pass/fail
credit. Assume that only the midterm and final grades matter, and that a student passes with an average
exam score greater than 60. The report should list the students in alphabetical order, and indicate P or F as
the grade.

I am not sure I understand this question completely.
a) Are we supposed to assume that our input data is going to change. So far all through out we've assumed input in this form:
name midterm final hw1 hw2 hw3 .. .. hwn

Now how do i know if a student has enrolled for PAss or Fail grade only?

b) Additionally I am thinking of what the output will look like. Are we merging numerical grades with P/F? or just allocating every student P/F?
For instance,
John 62
Charlie 75
Nancy F
Brad P
Jen 58

or

John p
Charlie p
Nancy F
Brad P
Jen F

Also what is the need to write another class for this problem. Why not take the same student_info class and add a function or two? This question is really unclear in what it is asking. Any help from the author of what he had hoped the solution would look like, would be helpful. or if other candidates have done this exercise, would be interested in your interpretation of the question.
