why the global variables in c are initialized to 0?

why the global variables in c are initialized to 0? and who initializes these variables?

Why not?

Or rather because the standard says that is what will happen. It is rather better than them not getting initialised to anything.

The C start-up code, the code that runs before main, initialises all global variables, both initialised variables and uninitialised variables.
