named pipes in c++

Hi all ,

Im using pipes in my application , I am facing some problem in declaring it .
if i use the pipename ad \\.\\pipe\\testPipe(where . indictes the local machine name ) its creating the pipe .
But if i give the host name instead of the "." pipe is not getting created .....

Does the host have a public folder named pipe available (visible and shared)?

its not really the folder its the name of the pipe thts all

. relies on the working directory.

If you give the hostname only, there is no guarantee it will be in the same working directory.
