system hash code

Sorry if I am asking in the wrong place. I bought a used notebook from ebay. I got it running but the fan stayed on all the time & when i tried to get into the bios/cmos it asked for a password. I went through HP tech support they had me flash the bios from windows when that didn't work they had me do it from the floppy when that didn't work they had me dismantle it and take the cmos battery out and that didn't work. Finally they told me i would have to send it into them to have it removed. Money wise it isn't worth it. It's an old hp presario 2170 us notebook & the system hash code is [---04170] those 3 dashes are really empty spaces.

If anyone could convert this hash code to a password I'b be deeply grateful
thanks

I did a Google of "system hash code" and got a lot of hits. Some of them look like they can help you.

yeah so didn't I. I have no understanding of "System hash code" this place was one of the places listed in the search I did & that is why I asked here. If you have a link to a particular site/link please post it. It was during that search I found an old post site that people were posting hash codes and someone on the site was converting them to passwords the last post was in 2005 however?
Thanks
