Tower of hanoi by efficient divide-and-conquer algorithm..

Can anyone suggest me how to devise an efficient divide-and-conquer algorithm for the Tower-of-Hanoi problem when the disks are colored alternately red and blue, and with the extra rule that no disk may be placed on any other disk of the same color.

No idea. You better think it yourself.

I suspect you will find this is a bit of a trick question, if you are running the solution correctly you will never get a blue disk on a blue disk or a red disk on a red disk.

I noticed that as well but I can't prove it (yet) ...

I think this red/blue constraint is more of a hint than a complication.

I think this red/blue constraint is completely moot but I can't find a proof (yet).

kind regards,
