Is it possible to validate the datatype of an input?

HELLO,

If I code following in C:

int x;
scanf("%d", &x);
 

Now above code expects value input for 'x' to be of integer type. But if user enters a value of float type, is it possible to display a message (after performing a test) that the input is not of correct type?

The pseudocode for what I want to do is below:

if(value_input_for_x == float type)
printf("Input type must be an integer!");
 

If possible, what is C code equivalent to pseudocode above?

In case of error scanf returns 0,but I think if you try to scan in a float into a integer variable that it would automatically rounded to an integer.If you really want to determine whether input was really an integer you'll have to do it all by yourself.
